Advancement

Advancement in Boy Scouts is different than in Cubs. Self motivation and independent action is necessary for your Scout to advance through the ranks.  If a Scout applies himself and works hard the goal of obtaining First Class in the first year is attainable, however many Scouts do take longer.  Campouts, Summer Camp, and specially scheduled advancement programs and events are good places to get requirements signed off.   Any Scout on Junior Leader Staff or any adult leader can sign off on requirements for first class and below. Requirements for Tenderfoot, Second and First Class can be signed off concurrently. It is possible to get Second and First Class completed almost at the same time.  Parents cannot sign off on any requirement, however you can help by talking with your son and providing some direction in the advancement.
