This weeks meeting will be split between New Green Scout Registration and Pioneering. The Gold Scouts will meet at Bay Area Park for Pioneering. Uniform is class B. Troop T Shirts and Scout Pants.

Green Scout registration will be at the Church. Class A uniform. Green ASPL's and Troop Guides should go to the Church. You will be organizing the Green Scouts into Patrols, Naming Patrols, Patrol Yells, etc.

April Campout

April's campout will be April 13 - 15 at BSA Camp Green Dickson between Gonzales and Shiner. Here is a link to their Web Site:

To get to the camp take I-10 toward San Antonio. At Flatonia take State Hwy 95 South toward Moulton/Shiner. From Moulton take FM 532 West, FM 795 South and CR 354 West to the camp.

The program will be pioneering. The boys will build catapults and have a war of some type. Steve Willis has offered to teach Pioneering Merit Badge to scouts First Class and Above. Let him know if you are interested. Sign up for the campout at the following Jotforms. Deadline to sign up is Sunday April 8th at Midnight. We will collect $10 food money at the Gold Scout meeting April 10th at Bay Area Park. The new Green Scouts will not go on this campout.

April Meetings Agenda

April 2007 Meetings

Tuesday's meeting begins our pioneering program.

Mar 20th wil be at CLUMC and concentrate on pioneering knots.
Mar 27th will be at CLUMC and concentrate on lashings.
April 3rd and April 10th will be at either Bay Area Park or Nassau Bay City Park and involve building trhings. The April 3rd and 10th meetings will also be the new green scout's first two meetings at the church.
The campout will be April 13 - 15 at Green Dickson Scout camp near Gonzales and involve building catapults and having a "war" of some kind. Green Scouts first campout will be camporee in May.

Used Uniforms: Charlotte Permetti will be at the next two meetings to collect outgrown uniform parts. Please look around and see if you have any used uniform parts you can donate. This really does help some of our new families with the initial expense.

Upcoming Training

Bayshore District Scoutmaster training dates are coming up in April and May.

Saturday April 28 - Boy Scout Leader Specific Training Parts 1 - 3 - University Baptist Church 8 AM - 3 PM. This training is for all Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters or anyone who would like to become either of these.

May 11-13 - Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills University Baptist Church Friday 6 PM- Sunday 8 AM.

Rock Climbing Merit Badge

For those Scout 14YO and First Class who are interested in earning the Rock Climbing Merit Badge, you must attend the belay training and see or notify Mark Valentine that you intend to earn the merit badge. You will need to buy the merit badge book, attend the Rock Gym meetings to fulfill some of the requirements and do some worksheets to fulfill other requirements. Those working on the merit badge will meet for the last half hour of each Rock Gym meeting.

Space Exploration Merit Badge

The Troop still has not heard back from the JSC Rocketry Club. If we can’t set up something with them, we will schedule launches over two Saturday mornings at a TBD location. If anyone has a suggestion for a location, please send me a note; the ones I know of are under water.

A copy of the merit badge worksheet has been emailed and posted that was passed out during the one meeting. If you have trouble opening it, a similar copy can be found at: http://www.meritbadge.com/worksheets/ . If you attended the three rocketry meetings, you have completed requirement 7, requirement 4: action/reaction portion, and the build a rocket portion of requirement 3; note your attendance on the sheet. You must still do the remaining portions of 4 and 7. For those who have built and flown your own rockets, fill out the portions of requirement 3 that apply, then have a parent or teacher sign it. When you have everything done just get with me and we will go over it and get your merit badge card.
